Tutoring Sessions - A Fun Way to Enhance Your Childs Confidence

Tutoring Sessions - A Fun Way to Enhance Your Child's ConfidenceYou might think that a tutoring session is an essential for children to learn, but it is also an important way to expand the confidence of the child. It gives you the opportunity to put the child through a whole range of challenges in a very organized manner. The child's interest will be boosted and also there is more time to develop important skills.Every child can benefit from an experience like this. There are various options to choose from and here are some ways to make your tutoring session something special. The first thing that you have to do is to get hold of the child's schedule and then tailor your session to suit the child's personality. You can create a tutor bed in which you can meet your child when they are in class. This helps you to make your session as interesting as possible. As soon as you find a good tutor, you can make him your consultant. With the help of this, you can explore the particular capabili ties of the child and get him better prepared to tackle the tests.Next, you can offer to explain the different things that you want to discuss with your child at the tutor's home. To make this a memorable experience, it is important that you can say things in a child-friendly way.In this way, you can help your child to determine his own strengths and weaknesses and then find out how he can use them to score better in the exam. A good tutor can do this very well, but you have to ensure that you are there to support your child in the right way. After the session, you have to make sure that you monitor what the child is doing. You need to make sure that the child has not developed any nervousness. Also, it is a good idea to go for a walk or go for a ride in the car to cool down your child. You can also let the child take up whatever work you require from the notebook.During the session, make sure that you do not hesitate to correct your child's mistakes and speak clearly to him. By doin g this, you can keep your child motivated and committed to the lesson. It is vital that you have your child ready and you can make sure that this is the case by opting for tutoring sessions.

How do I find a teaching job abroad

How do I find a teaching job abroad Teaching abroad can be a very rewarding experience. You’re placed outside of your comfort zone -- and often times, teaching in a foreign country where students speak a different language. You’ll learn things about yourself and grow as an educator, too. Countless teachers have told us that they are able to take what they’ve learned as educators abroad back to their home country. (Read more about this on our blog post about Angela and how teaching in Kazakhstan helped her succeed in the American classroom.) On top of that, you’ll find that you’ll have some amazing opportunities to travel as well. Teaching abroad sounds pretty great, doesn’t it? “How do I find a teaching job abroad?” you may ask. Here are the key steps that you should take to find a teaching job abroad: Understand what teaching jobs you qualify for, based on your qualifications. You will need a Bachelor’s Degree at the minimum to teach. If you have a Bachelor’s Degree along with a valid teaching license issued by your regional teacher licensing authority, you will have a lot more options and can teach in certain regions including the Middle East. If you don’t have a teaching license, you can still teach! Be sure to check the requirements of each job posting, as an ESL certificate, such as a TEFL certificate, may be required. Chances are, you’ll be well-positioned to teach in Asian countries such as China, South Korea, and Thailand, after you have obtained your TEFL certification. Some positions may also need post-qualification teaching experience as well, but any teaching-related experience is a plus. Research countries that interest you and make a list of top 5 countries. Now that you have a general sense of where you can go based on your educational background, do a little bit of research to find where specifically you’d like to go to teach abroad. Perhaps you have always wanted to travel to a specific country or you have visited a country in the past and loved it. There can be many reasons for why you want to teach in a particular country. Visit our “destinations” map to learn a bit more about the different countries and their culture and notable geographical information. Prepare your resume or CV and gather your certifications. If you haven’t already, make sure your resume is up to date and highlights all your relevant experience and education. Check out this webinar recording on how to complete your teacher resume. Register for a Teach Away account. If you haven’t already, applying for teaching positions through Teach Away is more reliable than flying out to a foreign country and applying for jobs when you’re there. This way, you’re able to apply from the comfort of your home -- definitely less stressful than moving yourself and your whole family to a foreign country and trying to find a job! Register for a Teach Away account here and make sure you upload your resume you prepared in step 3 and carefully fill out all your information. You’ll want to take at least 30 minutes to ensure you have added everything. Search for teaching positions in your desired country and click “apply” on the jobs that interest you and that you qualify for. Use our job board and the filter functions to find the right jobs for you. Make sure you read the job posting to see if you qualify for the position before clicking “apply”. Get ready for your interviews. If you’re a candidate of interest, one of our placement coordinators will be in touch with you for a pre-screen interview conducted over phone or video call. Like any job interview, be sure to prepare so you can convey your answers confidently. If things go smoothly, you’ll advance to a second round of interviews, either virtually again, or in-person. Make sure you prepare for this interview too. Get that job offer! At this point, you may be offered that teaching job overseas! Your Teach Away placement coordinator will liaise with you to prepare you before your big move.

Seven Computer Skills Your Child Should Have by GCSEs

Seven Computer Skills Your Child Should Have by GCSEs Building on the foundation established during primary school, secondary school students rapidly expand their repertoire of computer skills. Media classes are one opportunity to expand basic computer knowledge while middle school students will find themselves using computers and mobile devices in and for many classes as they advance toward high school. Both school supplied and personally owned computing devices offer practice and applications to bolster digital expertise. By GCSEs students should expect to have mastered or become more proficient with the following tasks and skills. Improved Keyboarding Skills Practice makes proficient and middle school students should take every chance to improve their keyboarding speed and accuracy. Students will be using typing for documents and communications, including emails and online classes or portals. Word Processing Students will be required to complete assignments using specific formats. The ability to set margins, tabs and use the broad range of editing and search tools within word processing programs or applications will be stressed. Headers, footers and page or section breaks will become routine. Expect homework or projects to be accepted online as a requirement or a convenience. Creative Digital Presentations Using graphics, animations, slideshows and videos will make projects and presentations intriguing and entertaining. Adding narration and music and applying a variety of visual details are ways to make final products appealing and looking professional. Saving projects to physical media such as flash drives or DVDs should become routine. Cloud applications may make physical saving unnecessary. Advanced Spreadsheets Improving on the basic spreadsheet functions learned in primary school, middle school students should be able to plan and design spreadsheets to display and compare date in meaningful ways. Spreadsheet functions will be explored providing many practical applications for the more complicated requirements of school assignments and even personal applications. Exporting And Embedding Spreadsheets Students will be able to design a spreadsheet or set of spreadsheets as part of a larger presentation or project. Graphing and other accessible ways of displaying data will need to be competently exported and embedded in documents and other presentations. Understanding Of Basic Web Design Middle school students will learn the fundamentals of web design, including using hyperlinks and inserting text, images and links onto web pages, perhaps of their own design. Classroom web pages or personal web sites may be created or maintained. Basic Understanding Of Platforms And Servers Grasping the rapidly evolving options of stand alone personal desktops, local servers and remote or cloud based services will develop, depending on the systems used by the school, instructor or district. Saving to the cloud and working remotely, including completing online classes if appropriate, will be introduced and mastered. Individual schools and districts will introduce these concepts on their own schedules. Personal and mobile device use instead of desktops may impact how quickly concepts are adapted and added. Expect much variation.

Take Off The T-Shirt And Put On Some Power

Take Off The T-Shirt And Put On Some Power Photo by Jacob Sutton, courtesy of GQ.com What does this mean for our wardrobes? It suggests that if we want to be perceived as authoritative and be taken seriously, we need a serious power suit. As mentioned before, the style has shifted to a more subtle form of the 80s power suit, but its basics are still there, meaning you can (and should) still use them. For Men According to an article featured on GQ.com, two details label a suit and its wearer powerful. The stronger, more constructed shoulders and the low button stance (that shows more chest),  the article stated.  They combine to give you that broad, alpha-male V shape.   Along with these two keys, it is also recommended to invest in a double-breasted pinstriped suit, as it is still considered  the most powerful of all power suits, by GQ. Of course, if youre going the more rebellious, business casual route of the power suit, they recommend the pinstriped suit, white collared dress-shirt and to then screw the tie. For Women Photo courtesy of anntaylor.com The power suit for women is often less brazen than the mens, and involves a heavier focus on color. According to color psychology, black is considered more authoritative, while white is perceived as softer, which is a fact women should keep in mind when choosing a suit. Remember that black may be too harsh for some skin tones, which makes navy blues or even dark greens adequate alternatives. Todays suits for women are also more feminized, with, according to Vogue, the narrowest of shoulders, and shorter, tighter sleeves; they hit at the hipbone, not the upper thigh. For the Artists Photographer at Milanese Fashion Week, photo courtesy of The Styleograph This section isnt just for artists, of course, but for what they represent. Some of us possibly dont have jobs or a future corporate career that involves the need for the power suit. Take, for example, a photographer, writer, graphic designer and even some teachers; in these fields, a strong suit may come off as too much or arrogant rather than demanding of respect. In this case, it really depends upon your profession and whether you work for a small company or even for yourself. Promise Tangeman, owner of the graphic design boutique Promise Tangeman Creative, talks in an article featured on photographer Jasmine Stars blog on the importance of personal style. Take a step into your closet and evaluate what you like, what you buy, what you wear, and why. You may say that you dont know what your style is, but give yourself some credit, you know more than you think. When you get dressed in the morning you are choosing a visual look to represent you. Promises look has been called eclectic and very trendy, but it does indeed fit in with her profession and her boutiques brand, which makes it a great fit while setting her apart from the competition. She is seen in photos pairing dressy blazers, which give the vibe of professionalism, with funky, contrasting accessories such as feather earrings. In viewing her style and considering the fact that she designed her own business from the ground up, we can see that even developing a personal power suit proves beneficial. The concept of the power suit is something that can be used in our daily lives to aid in boosting confidence or to assert a certain flair, whether it be that of a powerful business investor or of a more out-of-the-box designer style. Working our clothing to our advantage, dressing for who we want to be and incorporating it into our personal brand is just a step closer to looking out from atop our own personal high-rise.

Unit Chemistry Helps

Unit Chemistry HelpsWith the diverse nature of medicines and other medicinal items, unit chemistry serves as a great background in which to investigate the properties of a drug or item. Unit chemistry is an international term for the application of chemistry and mathematics to the study of substances. This method enables to understand chemical structure and how they work. It includes the study of the basic factors of drug properties and effects. There are two main sources for learning online unit chemistry. There are numerous texts online that are based on the units in which the reader is required to derive the property of the substance and its effects. A graduate student can study the properties of the compound to be used. This is used to help comprehend a compound and its interaction with the body. There are also many other resources available for online learning of units. For this, students have to use multiple subjects. There are various theories and explanations used for unit chem istry in the United States and in many other countries, as well. Different universities offer different online units for the class that the student has to complete.Another common unit theory and procedure used in the United States are used in Europe. In addition, in some areas of South America, China, Japan, Middle East, South Africa, Russia, and India the practice of using units in the natural sciences is mandatory. This helps in creating a better understanding of a field. Additionally, it helps students learn that such principles are applicable to medicine. The value of unit chemistry is to understand how compounds relate to chemical reactions, so that one can predict how drugs will interact with the body.Chemistry has many applications in medicine. One of the major applications in medicine is the identification of drugs. The designation of drugs can be done based on their potency and toxicity. When this happens, one can use the appropriate prescription or over the counter medicin e. In order to formulate a drug, a few key factors must be thought about. Chemical composition, chemical reactions, and properties of the compound are all of importance. These factors determine the mode of action or mechanism of action. In addition, others, like contact point, duration of action, etc. have to be taken into consideration. These factors can easily be gathered from reading material and by comparing them with the known properties of the drug.Research has been done to make more in-depth material and medicinal articles for the purpose of understanding the properties of chemicals and medical effects. This is needed by the doctor who is treating patients for a long time. Online education is able to improve knowledge and increase knowledge of this disease. All these factors are available for the students studying online.

How to Choose the Best Online Photography Training

How to Choose the Best Online Photography TrainingThe Portland Business Journal recently reported that 'Colorful tutoring Denver Lightroom Photography' is a website that offers online tutoring to individuals or businesses, or even for large organizations, as part of their digital marketing strategy. Tutors use the same procedures, and in many cases the same materials, as the digital photography or video tutors at the art school or photography studio. If you are interested in learning more about how this tutoring process works, and how you can use it to help your own digital photography business, it is well worth the time to read this article.Education is not the same as training or certifications; it is the proper, ongoing exposure to the most appropriate methods of teaching, developing, and imparting knowledge and skills. This 'education' should be thought of in a broad sense, from teaching, which in the end becomes the process of molding the next generation of educators, to trainin g, which becomes a set of tools to improve the way that we teach the next generation of learners. If you are trying to increase your own knowledge and expertise, or to learn more about how to improve the methodologies you use to teach others, you will need to see what type of education you are seeking, and then consider the best ways to do so.In short, if you are interested in learning more about how to help your digital photography business succeed, you will need to consider education from experienced, accomplished individuals who can better train others to do what you can do yourself. These individuals have helped many individuals, both new and seasoned, take their careers to the next level. This is not to say that you can't learn much more from them as well, but you do want to make sure that you are in tune with all of the best practices in digital photography, and you are seeing those from a professional's point of view. If you haven't considered the type of knowledge that is ne cessary to become an excellent teacher, there are opportunities to learn this through education, but you will still need to make an effort to work through the subject matter with your students. If you are just beginning to realize the importance of how you teach your students or simply don't have the time or resources to go back and take classes or attend online classes, there are great opportunities to learn in the field, with the students themselves. Photography schools and business schools are opening their doors and hire new instructors to help students throughout the world to learn the latest techniques and to prepare them for the types of jobs in the field. If you are interested in this as a means of your own education, there are opportunities for this to help you get started as an instructor in the field. For example, there are a number of Lighting Schools that offer advanced training to students who want to take the lighting and post-production courses to expand their portfoli o, and build the business that they want to start. In turn, they can also offer online teaching to their students.Of course, in addition to finding someone to learn with, you also need to know how to be successful in your own digital photography business. There are countless tools available to help you, like instruction manuals, books, and DVDs. In most cases, however, these tools will not do much good unless you understand how to use them, or if you are willing to invest the time and energy into learning how to apply these skills to your digital photography business.Online tutoring has provided us with a great, convenient way to learn and train, and it has been very popular for many years now. People can find exactly what they need at the perfect price, from anywhere they are. The Internet has made it easy for people to study, learn, and use digital photography products effectively, and this is a good opportunity for any individual who wants to get an education from an expert in th e field.

What to Know When Writing Your College Admissions Essay

What to Know When Writing Your College Admissions Essay The following piece was written by Zach Kwartler. Zach is a graduate of Princeton Universityand the Marketing Manager for Story To College, an admissions consulting service. He can be reached at zach.kwartler@storytocollege.com. Imagine youre applying to Harvard. You attend one of the top high schools in your area, are ranked in the Top 10 in your class, scored above 700 on all three sections of the SAT, and just returned from a 5-week immersion trip in Argentina. With these numbers, how can you not get into a great college? Now, imagine youre on the Harvard admissions committee. You received over 36,000 applications for the Class of 2017 but you can only accept 3,000 students. You have over 6,000 applicants with perfect SAT scores and over 10,000 applicants with GPAs above 4.0. With these numbers, how can anyone get into a great college? Your essay is the only way for you to cut through the pile of perfect students and stand out in your college applications. Admissions officers say that most students write generic essays that do nothing to increase their chances for admission. Based on my experience working with hundreds of students on their college application essays, here are a few tips to ensure you write an essay that actually helps you get into college: Do: Write about a moment of inspiration and what you did with it. For obvious reasons, colleges want to accept students who are intellectually curious. The best way to demonstrate your intellectual curiosity is to tell a detailed story about a specific moment when you were hooked on the subject matter or the approach to what you were studying. Maybe theres a quote from The Great Gatsby posted above your computer that you read every day. Write an essay that describes how this quote influences your everyday life. Dont: Write a biography of your academic career. In ninth grade, I started high school and I had to adjust to the workload. In tenth grade, I started taking AP classes and I really connected with my English teacher. In 11th grade, I buckled down and really improved my SAT score. Now its 12th grade and Im a transformed person. Does this sound original? No. Many students make the mistake of trying to cram their life story into a 500-word essay. Dont fall into that trap. Instead, focus on a specific moment from your academic career that shows you learning, changing, or making a difference. Do: Write about a conversation on the subway. Imagine you just went on a life-changing summer trip to Argentina. You want to show colleges that you adapt to difficult situations and like taking risks, so you decide to write about this experience. Thats a great idea. To make this work, focus on a specific moment that shows how you connected with a foreign culture. Maybe you were on a crowded subway in Buenos Aires and you spoke broken Spanish with a crazed Argentinean soccer fan. Write an essay that describes how this specific moment changed your view of the world. Dont: End your essay by saying My summer abroad showed me how everyone is connected. One of the biggest mistakes students make when they write about a summer experience is telling a long story that starts when they got off the plane and ends when they returned home with a changed worldview. Again, the more generic your story, the less likely it is that a college will remember you. If your goal is to show a college admissions committee that your view on the world changed as a result of your trip, tell a story that shows what you did as a result of your changed perspective. Dont write a step-by-step summer travel-log with a concluding paragraph that starts with, This is what I learned in Argentina. Remember, you need to stand out on your college admissions essays. To do this, avoid the temptation to write a general story about very broad life experiences. Instead, focus on moments in your life that make you unique. If you do this, you will give yourself the chance to be the one student that the Harvard admissions committee actually remembers at the end of the year. A Student Review of Tufts University

A Student Review of Tufts University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Julia is a San Francisco-Bay Area tutor and 2011 graduate of Tufts University. She holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology and tutors several subjects, specializing inElementary Math tutoring, Psychology tutoring, and SAT prep tutoring. Check out what Julia had to say about her time at Tufts University: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. How urban or safe is the campus? Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Julia: Tufts University is a very small campus, so it is possible to walk everywhere. You will be in great shape walking up and down the hills all day! You really only need a car if you are traveling off-campus for grocery shopping or other tasks. The T (or subway) is great if you want to go into Boston, and it is easy to catch it from Davis Square. Davis Square is about a 15-minute walk from campus, but there is also a shuttle that travels back and forth. VT: How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Julia: I had great experiences with my professors and my adviser. When I first started school, I was very stubborn about not wanting to ask for help. However, I soon realized that I was really only letting myself down. All of the professors that I went to for help were thrilled that I was showing initiative and interest in the topic, and they made themselves very available to me. Part of the reason I chose to go to a smaller school was to have relationships with faculty members, and I feel I was able to achieve this. I cannot say enough good things about my adviser! He was absolutely amazing. We developed a strong relationship, and I am still in contact with him today. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Julia: I really enjoyed dorm life! I only spent my freshman year in a dorm, as I went on to live in my sorority house and off-campus. The dorm rooms are pretty simple, but it is easy to decorate and personalize them. There are two dining halls on campus, one that is uphill and one that is downhill. Everyone has a preference about which they like better, but they are both great. Tufts University has pretty fantastic food, so avoid the Freshman 15! I loved my freshman year dorm because it was very centrally located. I was 100 feet from the dining hall, and all of my classes were a five-minute walk away. Tufts University always has a million things going on, so there are many socialization opportunities available! Just check Tuftslife.com. At the beginning of the school year, there are a lot of events planned just for freshmen, so you can make friends easily and quickly. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Did the university do a good job supporting your particular area of study? Julia: Tufts University has a great International Relations department and a very highly rated Child Development department. I minored in Child Development and majored in Psychology. I chose to study Psychology because I loved my introductory classes, and all of the professors that I had were great. Tufts University does not make you choose a major until the end of your sophomore year, and they encourage you to take classes in many different fields. They really support you in finding the right fit. I loved my department and my adviser, and I do not think I have met anyone who does not feel the same. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Julia: Tufts University does not have a large Greek life. There were three sororities while I was attending school (2007-2011) and about ten fraternities. There is absolutely no need to join Greek life to make friends, because there are tons of other clubs, groups, teams, etc. It was also easy to make friends in my dorm and in my classes. I did choose to join a sorority because I wanted to expand my social circle even more. Everyone in my sorority was involved in several different campus activities, so by joining the sorority, I also ended up involved in sports, clubs, and philanthropic activities. Tufts University also offers pre-orientation groups for freshmen, which I highly recommend! I did the wilderness pre-orientation group, which involves backpacking along the Appalachian Trail for about five days before school starts. This ensures that you already know a few people when you get to campus, which I greatly appreciated. VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services?Do many reputable companies recruit on campus? Julia: I cannot say that I used the Career Center very much, but I heard good things about it. There is a large job fair in the spring that attracts a lot of great companies. Everyone I know ended up with a job they were happy with after graduation, and many of my friends have gone on to medical school or law school. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Julia: I love Tisch Library at Tufts University. First, it is huge, so you never have to worry about finding somewhere to sit. It also has social areas where you can sit with friends, eat snacks, and talk. (There are quiet areas for when you really need to get down to business.) There are several smaller libraries on campus that friends of mine went to, but I was always happy with Tisch Library. There are also several cafes on and around campus that I went to when I got sick of the library. I did not spend a lot of time in my dorm lounge. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Julia: Tufts University is in a really great location. It has its own downtown area (Davis Square), but it is also very close to Cambridge and Boston. I probably went into Davis Square once or twice a week and into Cambridge or Boston once a month. Campus life is pretty fun, so leaving campus was not necessary. However, there were some fun bars and restaurants in Davis Square, as well as a movie theater/concert venue. When you wanted to go shopping or to an area bigger than Davis Square, Cambridge was a five-minute subway ride away, and downtown Boston was about 20 minutes away. I remember going to the aquarium in Boston, checking out Quincy Market and the North End, walking down Newbury Street, and visiting the Boston Commons. Overall, it was an amazing place to go to school. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Julia: Size was a big part of my attraction to Tufts University. I knew I wanted a school that was bigger than my high school, because I did not want to know everyone by the time I graduated. I wanted to constantly be meeting new people! However, I also did not want to be overwhelmed by the student body. I wanted to find a niche that I was comfortable with, and I did not want to get lost in the shuffle. Tufts University was the perfect size for that, with about 5,000 undergraduates. Introductory classes were always pretty large, but most of my classes by junior and senior year were under 20 people, some even under 10. It was great to have classes that small because they were much more personal. Professors actually knew your name and got to know you over the course of the semester. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Julia: During my sophomore year, I ended up in a class that was very difficult for me. For some reason, the information did not click. After the first test, I realized I was going to have to change my strategy if I was going to earn a passing grade. I began sitting in the front row, asking the professor lots of questions before and after class, and studying a lot. When our final exam was approaching, I hit the books, and I hit them hard. I went into the exam feeling really good but that did not last long. I left the test close to tears I was sure I had failed. I was waiting outside the classroom for a friend of mine to finish when the professor came out to check on me. When he asked how I thought the test had gone, I broke into tears. I still remember what my professor said to me at that moment: This test is just a small part of your grade. I have seen the effort you have put into this class, and I know how hard you have worked. I see you in the front row every class, and all of tha t will be reflected in your grade. Later that day, he emailed me to let me know that I had ended up with a B in the class. This moment sticks out in my mind because it was the first time I realized how much the professors really cared. He wanted me to do well almost as much as I wanted to do well! It also felt really good to know that my hard work was noticed and appreciated, even in a subject that was really difficult for me. That moment taught me to always put in the extra effort because you never know who is paying attention. Check out Julias tutoring profile.
